Dental bonding was one of the original techniques developed for "instant" smile enhancement. Bonding is an adhesive dental restoration technique that restores chipped, cracked, discolored or misaligned teeth by rebuilding the surface with a plastic or porcelain material. The advantage of selecting the bonding procedure is that the composite material can be matched to almost any tooth color.

Composite bonding is relatively inexpensive and can last several years before needing replacement. The bonding material is molded and shaped to create a natural appearance. However, the bonding material is more susceptible to staining than natural tooth enamel so it must be cleaned regularly.
